Meddelande från Nobelförsamlingens ordförande

Avgående rektor Anders Hamsten, dekanus Hans-Gustaf Ljunggren, Urban Lendahl och Katarina Le Blanc meddelar att de  på egen begäran avstår från att medverka i Nobelförsamlingens arbete under den tid som utredning pågår i Macchiariniärendet. Detta beslut har tagits eftersom de kommer att omfattas av utredningen och av omsorg om Nobelprisarbetets integritet. Urban Lendahl har tidigare meddelat att han avgår som sekreterare i Nobelförsamlingen vid Karolinska Institutet samt Nobelkommittén för Nobelpriset i fysiologi eller medicin. Eventuella frågor ställs till Nobelförsamlingens ordförande Rune Toftgård eller Nobelkommitténs ordförande Thomas Perlmann.

Nobelförsamlingen, som är fristående från Karolinska Institutet, består av 50 valda ledamöter som är professorer vid KI.

Message from the Chairman of the Nobel Assembly

Past Vice Chancellor Anders Hamsten, Dean of Research Hans-Gustaf Ljunggren, Professor Urban Lendahl and Professor Katarina Le Blanc have announced that they, and by their own request, will refrain from participating in any activities related to the Nobel Assembly and the Nobel Committee in Physiology or Medicine at Karolinska Institutet during the time in which the “Macchiarini case” is under investigation. This decision is taken because they anticipate to be included in the investigation and out of respect for the integrity of the Nobel Prize work. Previously, Professor Urban Lendahl announced his resignation as Secretary General of the Nobel Assembly and the Nobel Committee in Physiology or Medicine. Any questions should be addressed to the Chairman of the Nobel Assembly, Professor Rune Toftgård, or the Chairman of the Nobel Committee, Professor Thomas Perlmann.

The Nobel Assembly is independent of the Karolinska Institutet and consists of 50 elected Professors from the Karolinska Institutet.
